Stepping Stone / July 5, 2018 / Christine
The last step is again sealing the entire piece of artwork with an outdoor water repellent product. You can use a high gloss or matt finish your choice. Apply your artwork to the wall or fence with the appropriate screws or nails. If you dont want the screw heads to show put the piece up first and then paint it in place. Another option I love for outside use is painting concrete stepping stones. They come in all shapes and sizes in your local hardware store garden area. This is a great time of year to do this project because it will be ready for the spring.
Before you install the gravel it is a good idea to put down a weed barrier of some sortold newspaper works great for thisjust put it over the whole path area in a layer two or three sheets thick. Next evenly distribute the pea gravel over the entire area of your path and rake it out smooth filling the path back up to ground level. With your gravel now in place its time to start placing your stepping stones. There are many choices for stones. You can choose from a variety of manmade products or use natural flagstone.
So go ahead and buy yourself some Polyurethane Rubber concrete molds. You will see how much you can experiment with the various stone molds designs and will find making your own concrete stones and paving adds greatly to your sense of accomplishment in the way you make you beautify your pathways and garden. Making your own stepping stones is actually quite easy a bit messy and a lot of fun. Its a wonderful outside family craft for a warm seasonal day. Crafting a personalized handprint and/or footprint stepping stone for each child parent and even the pets will not only add charm to your garden path but also become prized keepsakes.
