Stepping Stone / July 5, 2018 / Christine
After you have sealed the stone and it has dried apply any color or design you like. It is best to use outdoor paint but I have used indoor with no problems. The last and final step is to use a clear coat sealer it often comes in a spray can or you can paint it on. Viola you are done and you now have a beautiful stepping stone for less than $10.00.
Normally there are 3 types of base material used depending on the use of the stone. Regular concrete is used most often when a stone is actually part of a pathway and decorations such as small mosaic tiles or colored stones are used for visual effect. Stepping stone concrete is used when a more intricate pattern (or 3d effect from a mold) is used. It is finer grained so there is less likely to be an air pocket in a detailed area. Finally there is plaster of paris; it is VERY fine grained and will hold the best detail of all; but lacks the strength necessary to hold up under harsh weather or traffic conditions. Garden stepping stones of this material should be ornamental only and in an area protected from weather and harsh temperatures.
Another form of garden statues youll find are the very popular cherub(s) statues and little boy/girl statues. These garden statues are popular because they are so cute and welcoming. You can add them anywhere in your garden and they are sure to look inviting. Some other fun forms of garden statues can be Disney characters solar light statues and figurines frogs and other kinds of wild life statues. Some garden statues come in the form of welcome signs or yard markers (for example by the mailbox the corners of the driveway etc.).
